Our story

Started by responders, for responders.

Sahara Emergency Medical Services Trainers — trading as Sahara EMS College — is a formally registered pre-hospital emergency medicine training institution in Kenya, incorporated in 2020, with campuses at Pioneer Plaza in Nakuru and SIFA House in Kisumu.

Our core mandate is affordable, quality, evidence-based EMS training: for pre-hospital providers — emergency medical technicians and paramedics — and for in-hospital teams such as nurses, doctors and other health workers. Alongside EMT and EMR we run first aid, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, ECG Basic, the Airway + Breathing Masterclass and fire-safety courses, sponsor bright students who could not otherwise afford training, and take EMS awareness into Kenya’s schools and colleges.

02
Partner with local and international EMS stakeholders to advance the EMS profession.
03
Give accurate information so people can make informed choices about EMS as a profession and career.
04
Educate society on the importance of the emergency medical services system within healthcare — including awareness programmes in Kenya’s learning institutions.

20+ years of practice

Our EMS and emergency-care faculty bring more than twenty years of active classroom and patient-care experience into every session.

Internationally certified instructors

Every instructor is trained and certified in line with international EMS education standards.

Small, supported cohorts

A maximum of 25 EMT students per intake, so you get personal attention from day one through your 500-hour internship.

What we stand for

Trained the way you will work.

Hands-on from day one

Airway, CPR, IV access and trauma skills are practised every week in our scenario lab — not saved for the last module.

Instructors from the field

Every instructor still works, or has worked for decades, in pre-hospital care. What we teach is what works on a Kenyan roadside.

A place for bright students

Talent should not depend on fees. Partners and donors fund sponsored places every intake for students who need them.
