Cardiac arrest gives you minutes, not hours. What happens in those minutes — how well the chest is compressed, how quickly the shock is delivered, how calmly the team works — decides whether a patient survives. From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November 2026 we run AHA BLS and AHA ACLS back to back at our Nakuru campus: one day of AHA BLS, followed by two days of AHA ACLS over the weekend. Book by 27 October so that your course manual reaches you in time.
AHA BLS — the foundation (Friday 27 November)
AHA BLS is the American Heart Association’s basic life support course for healthcare professionals, and the foundation every advanced course builds on. On feedback manikins you see your real compression depth and rate instead of guessing them.
- High-quality CPR for adults, children and infants
- Early use of an AED
- Bag-mask ventilation
- Two-rescuer and team CPR
- Relief of choking
AHA ACLS — leading the resuscitation (Saturday 28 – Sunday 29 November)
AHA ACLS takes you from performing CPR to leading a resuscitation team. You work on a real monitor-defibrillator and practise the algorithms until they become routine.
- The systematic approach to the critically ill adult
- Rhythm recognition, defibrillation, synchronised cardioversion and pacing
- Airway management and ventilation during CPR
- Drugs used in cardiac arrest and peri-arrest situations
- Bradycardia and tachycardia algorithms
- Recognising acute coronary syndromes and stroke
- Care after return of spontaneous circulation
- Team dynamics and closed-loop communication in the megacode
Why book both together
AHA ACLS requires a current AHA BLS provider card. Booking both courses together means three consecutive days and one booking — and you save: KES 25,000 for both instead of KES 25,500 when booked separately.
Who should attend
AHA BLS: every healthcare professional — nurses, clinical officers, doctors, EMTs, dentists and pharmacists. AHA ACLS: nurses, clinical officers, doctors, EMTs and paramedics who manage cardiac emergencies in emergency departments, critical care, theatres, wards and on ambulances.
Certification
Both courses end with a skills test and a written exam. Successful participants receive an AHA provider card for each course, valid for two years, issued through our AHA Training Center, Emergency Care Trainers Ltd (ECT). ACLS participants receive pre-course preparation, including the AHA pre-course self-assessment.
